Introduction to emacs: Who can better introduce emacs better than its original creator Richard Stallman? Emacs compared to the others: In the text editor competition, Sublime and Atom are much more approachable but if we could compared a text editor to music, Sublime would be Rihanna whereas Emacs would be Stravinsky. Like music from Igor Stravinsky, I don’t know anybody who started to appreciate it the first time (and of course it’s all available in the public domain too). Powerfull beast can be complex to get start with, emacs is no exception and the learning curve feels steep when you’re a first time user. Don’t worry though, you don’t have to use all the power emacs brings in and it’s perfectly fine to use it only for the basics.
